..so i wasnt 'up' on my autorp...therefore the .255 in the loopback address was not a give away for me.
so I *dan-o-rigged* static-rp-overide with intentions that the auto-rp would be a backup. i cant remeber if i used the " ip pim accept-rp auto-rp access-list" to nail down the required rp to be backup..or did i blow by that too. I used loop-0 for auto, and loop-1 for static.. not to say any of it would have worked. i performed testing applying icmp-join-groups in various spots... killed the static rp..watched it failed over to autorp...i thought my test results where conclusive that dan-o-rig worked.... i should have performed more testing and research...but blew away my lab to start lab-13.. looking back, reading old forum archive..i'm not so sure it was working.. anyway just was wondering did anybody try this approach ...
