    Task 5.1 BGP Peering

    Hello experts,

in the SG, R5 and R6 have the next hop self command to each other. I understand that R5 will need to specify the next hop self command for the neighbor peering to R6 because R6 does not have routes to Vlan 52 and 53.

But R6 does not need to specify the next hop self command for the neighbor peering to R5 because R5 will have a route to the Frame Relay cloud to BB1 because it is running EIGRP.

Can someone please look into it and share thoughts.

    Best regards

You may be right, cant remember anymore that lab but that comand next-self doesnt hurt to configure it even if your network has IP reachability to the external networks.

It is actually good practice IMO because it makes it easier to understand how the traffic flows tru net network
