    The scoring script

    Hi guys,

I've heard that the scoring script running on CCIE labs won't detect any "extra" configuraitons, it could somehow be useful; like when you don't know a command gets an ACL or a route-map if you configure an ACL AND a route map with the same name (and of course the main command works) you will get full points.

    Any ideas on this ?

    Cheers,

    K.

Yes - for most things you can "over-configure" and you will lose no poiunts - for others you cannot. For example, if they say an access list needs to be X number of lines - overconfiguration in this case could kill you. Surprise

For harmless overconfigurations - just be sure you are not wasting too much time.

    Re: The scoring script

So I guess as long as your over-config doesn't BREAK anything, it should be ok?

For example:  Create an ACL that blocks pings, traceroute, and fuzzy monkeys (no mention of "in fewest commands")

    solution:

    deny any any icmp

    deny any any trace

    deny any any host-unreachable

    deny any any fuzzy_monkeys

    deny any any rip

    ******

So assuming rip was not needed on this path, its not 'breaking' anything, it wouldn't lose you any points?

    RE: The scoring script

That is correct, but I will only give warning to watch the details.  Especially when you are told "in as few lines as possible".  It is IMPOSSIBLE to summarize all fuzzy monkeys in a singl line.
