task 8.2 - thoughts on including tcp port 1720

    Hi all -

I'm not sure I agree with the AK with this task to include tcp port 1720.  That's call set up...any thoughts?

    many thanks -

    LG

    r/

I was thinking the same thing.  I took "VOIP traffic" to mean just the payload, not the setup.

1。permit tcp any any eq 1720

    2。permit udp any any range 16384 32767

    1。Signalling should be included(tcp port 1720)

    2。Payload can be remembered with

permit udp any any range ?

         65535/4 ceiling = 16384

         65535/2 floor = 32767

I would have to agree with Tammy on this as well.  I think I would ask the proctor for clarification, I don't know why we're assuming call setup is H323, as opposed to Skinny/MGCP/SIP.  Really does seem arbitary...  And on the subject of port numbers, those are the port numbers that Cisco uses, many implementations use above and below that range.

It's typical to apply a bandwidth guarantee for call setup, not a priority queue.

I guess it helps if I read ahead, clearly H323 is being used Yes

Where do you draw the line?....

    R2#sh ip nbar port h323
    port-map h323          udp 1300 1718 1719 1720 11720
    port-map h323          tcp 1300 1718 1719 1720 11000 - 11999
